RMP consultants are proud to offer comprehensive acoustic design services tailored to the unique needs of the Edinburgh College of Arts project. With a deep understanding of the acoustic requirements inherent in educational institutions, our team is committed to ensuring that the ECA fosters an environment favourable to learning, creativity, and collaboration.

Our services encompass every stage of the construction and refurbishment process, from initial planning advice and acoustic design input to post-completion testing.

Leveraging our expertise in architectural acoustics, we are working closely with the project architects Hawkins Brown to develop acoustic solutions that enhance the auditory environment of classrooms, studios, performance spaces, and common areas.

Noise assessments allowed the design team to identify potential noise sources both within and around the site. Our team ensures that the facilities are equipped with effective sound insulation measures to prevent the transmission of unwanted noise between rooms. We carefully advise on materials and construction techniques to achieve optimal sound isolation performance.

Auditory comfort is a key element of the consultant’s work on this project. From lecture halls to art studios, our aim is to prioritise auditory comfort by controlling reverberation times and speech intelligibility in accordance with the specific requirements of each space.
