Edinburgh Futures Institute

Client: University of Edinburgh / Faithful + Gould

Architects: Bennetts Associates

Contractor: Balfour Beatty

Project Value: £70 million

Project Consultant: Eleni Kontesidou

Almost 150 years on from the original construction of Edinburgh’s Grade A listed prestigious Old Royal Infirmary, construction works are underway to transform the building into the University of Edinburgh’s Futures Institute (EFI).

The historic building is to be restored, extended, and upgraded to form a wide range of teaching and learning spaces, function areas and workspace for academics, all linked together by broad circulation routes and dynamic spatial volumes.

The Institute, located at the heart of the Quartermile development, combines business, arts, humanities, and sciences with external partners in a multidisciplinary building.

RMP’s significant direct experience on the Quartermile site as the sole acoustic consultant to the project over the last 10 years made us well placed to provide a full range of services from internal design through construction and onto completion testing for this prestigious project.
