Since 2019, RMP acoustic consultants have provided acoustic advice on the redevelopment of the Adam Smith Theatre for Fife Council. The project is the largest refurbishment of the building in its 124-year history, into a vibrant cultural and community hub for Kirkcaldy and the wider Fife area. The aim is to provide space for amateur dramatics, upcoming performers and delivering shows, theatre, classical music concerts and cinema to the people of Kirkcaldy and Fife.
The acoustic challenges were to improve the internal acoustics of the main theatre and the Beveridge Suite directly below, whilst also improving the sound insulation to enable simultaneous performances in both spaces.
Other critical acoustic services were provided for The Hub/Creative Digital Hub, Café / Bar, Lower Function Suite, including back of house areas and offices, as part of the refurbishment works.
