National Treatment Centre – Tayside (NCT-T), Perth Royal Infirmary

Client: NHS Tayside

Project value: £32 million

Project team: Elena Prokofieva, Nicola Symington, David Chapman

RMP is currently working for NHS Tayside developing a new National Treatment Centre as part of a national network across Scotland. The Tayside unit will officially be known as the National Treatment Centre – Tayside (NTC-T). It will be a centre of excellence for planned surgery.

The proposals for the NTC-T include a purpose-built unit with five new theatres to complement the five existing theatres at Perth Royal Infirmary.

In addition, the centre would have two enhanced treatment rooms for ophthalmology and day procedures as well as dedicated patient rooms for all pre and post operative checks. The centre will also feature a short stay unit for people who need a short period of care after their procedure.

New Scottish Government legislation means that all new NHS buildings or major refurbishments must have net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and that all NHS buildings must be heated from renewable sources by 2038 or earlier.

The team is currently working on the design of the state-of-the-art centre, which will have net-zero greenhouse emissions and be heated from renewable sources.

RMP is commissioned as the acoustic consultant for the project duration.
