RMP is particularly proud to work with the Quartermile group on the redevelopment of the former Craig House Hospital and later Edinburgh Napier University’s Craighhouse campus.
The development presents an exclusive combination of converted apartments and new build residences in one of Edinburgh’s most remarkable areas, nestled in the historic estate of Old Craig House. RMP provided a full acoustic design and testing service on the project totalling 7 Grade A listed buildings and 6 new residential buildings.
RMP carried out pre-deterministic sound insulation testing of the existing separating floors and walls to determine if they already achieved the requirements of the building regulations. We then undertook a comprehensive design review of test data to propose acoustic specifications for the redevelopment. After assessing the appropriateness of the proposals for the redevelopment for compliance with Building Regulations requirements within residential accommodations, RMP provided recommendations for the existing floors and walls specifications also considering aspects such as communal areas. New wall constructions as proposed by the architect, were reviewed for compliance with Building Regulations requirements for residential accommodation.
RMP acoustic consultants also undertook a noise impact assessment of plant noise including for Air source heat pumps.
More recently, RMP consultants provided sound and air tightness post completion testing of the completed residences.
