RMP consultants were instructed by Morrison Construction to provide acoustic design input for a new build secondary Rosehill Secondary school in Wallyford. Integrated with a library, community centre and health and social care services as part of the Wallyford Learning Campus, the development benefits secondary school pupils as well as the wider community.

Acoustic consultancy services were required to ensure that suitable teaching and listening environments are created in terms of ambient noise levels, sound insulation and reverberation. RMP consultants have significant experience with this development site as they worked on the Wallyford masterplan and the design of Wallyford Primary School

At Stage 1 and 2, RMP consultants outlined the acoustic design requirements from current BB93, acoustic guidance details for the proposed school, example constructions and wall sound insulation mark ups as proposed, to ensure the BB93:2014 guidance criteria are met. RMP also undertook the BS5228 assessment of the potential construction noise impact on nearby residences and made recommendations of ongoing construction noise monitoring.

RMP addressed the design challenges brought by the Sports hall, flexible teaching spaces located under the campus’s fitness suite, and outdoor sports pitches located next to residential areas. Key junctions and flanking details were also highlighted at design stage.

RMP provided then provided ongoing acoustic advice and site inspections at construction stage and undertook final acoustic compliance measurements to confirm compliance with the requirements set in BB93:2014.
