From individual building investigations to estate-wide planning
Shetland Islands Council needed reliable building-performance data to support energy modelling and decarbonisation planning across its existing school estate. RMP delivered a coordinated programme of airtightness testing and thermographic surveys, helping the Council understand where fabric performance could influence future improvement decisions.
Delivering the programme efficiently meant getting each school ready before the testing visit. RMP surveyed the buildings in advance and provided preparation guidance for the Council’s building services teams. This enabled the main testing programme to be completed within a single coordinated visit, limiting repeat travel between remote island locations.
Testing was adapted to each school’s size, layout and exposed coastal conditions, and arranged outside teaching hours. The reports brought together airtightness results and investigations of potential heat-loss pathways, providing evidence for decisions across multiple buildings.
