The new development is situated directly opposite The University of Edinburgh’s Kings Building Campus and consists of two five-storey buildings to provide a total of 257 rooms, comprising studios and 3-bedroom apartments. The development also features a modern gym, communal area, laundry facilities and a cinema.
The building was constructed with an innovative modular technique, with the studios/apartments being manufactured off-site by modular specialist DMD Modular, before being transported to the site and installed within the building frame.
Lanark Student Living Ltd commissioned RMP to provide an external noise impact assessment at planning stage to determine the acoustic attenuation required.
RMP then undertook a full internal acoustic design review and included acoustical advice as necessary to facilitate compliance with Building (Scotland) Regulations and Client requirements.
