RMP has been appointed by Artisan Real Estate to provide acoustic and vibration services for a new 168 new homes residential development at the former Caledonian Brewery on Slateford Road, Edinburgh. The project considers the historical singularity of the site, including the 19th century B-listed Maltings Building, a distinctive red brick building.
The sustainable low-carbon development will deliver a high-quality mix of private and affordable housing with approximately one-fifth of the homes situated within the existing listed buildings.
RMP consultants are instructed to undertake full acoustic consultancy commencing with the planning stage Noise and Vibration Impact assessment at the site of the former Caledonian Brewery considering the primary sources of noise from road and rail traffic.
Measurements of road and rail noise were undertaken at a location representative of affected existing and proposed façades. Measurement of rail vibration was undertaken within an existing building and externally at the location of the nearest proposed new-build façade. RMP also provided a desktop assessment of MVHR Plant Noise for the development.
RMP are also instructed to undertake the internal acoustic design during the buildings warrant stage and providing ongoing site inspections and completion testing as the project progresses.
