Acoustic Consultant

BSc (Hons), PGDip, MIOA

Graduated with BSc(Hons) in Audio Engineering from the University of the Highlands and Islands. Scott joined RMP in 2015. Scott is a member of the Institute of Acoustics and has completed the IoA’s Postgraduate Diploma in Acoustics and Noise Control.

Scott is an Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) registered sound insulation tester and an Elmhurst Airtightness Scheme (EAS) registered Air Tightness Tester.

Sound Insulation Testing

Scott regularly undertakes sound insulation testing throughout the UK for a variety of projects including: commercial (schools, hotels, health centres) completion testing, fa├žade insulation measurements, pre-refurbishment tests for conversions, insulation assessments for upgrades to pubs and clubs as well as completion testing for dwellings under ISO 140, Approved Document E of the England and Wales Building Regulations, Code for Sustainable Homes and Section 5-Noise of Scottish Technical Standards.

Environmental Noise Impact Assessment

Scott has undertaken numerous noise impact assessments for a range of noise sources to standards such as; BS:4142, IPPC, BS:8233, BREEAM, inaudibility, CRTN and other PAN56 specific guidelines. Projects include; Exxon Mobile Fife Ethylene Plant Mossmorran, IETF Test Facility RAF Lossiemouth, multi-use business park at Edinburgh Airport, Charles River Laboratories Tranent, commercial pub/nightclub noise assessments in urban areas and planning noise impact assessments multiple residential developments over Scotland for companies such as Barratt Homes Ltd, CALA Homes Ltd and McCarthy & Stone.


Scott has undertaken vibration measurements for long term construction sites, rail traffic (including underground rail) and for investigative purposes relating to subterranean plant in line with BS 6472-1: Guide to evaluation of human exposure to vibration in buildings. Vibration sources other than blasting and BS 7385-2: Evaluation and measurement for vibration in buildings. Guide to damage levels from groundborne vibration.


Scott has participated in multiple design projects such as schools, student accommodation and hotels. Scott can also undertake the acoustic modelling of spaces using ODEON.

Air Tightness Testing

Scott is accredited by Elmhurst Airtighness Scheme (EAS) to undertake Air Tightness Testing and has undertaken both residential and commercial air permeability tests.
