Scott joined RMP in 2015 and has since undertaken numerous noise impact assessments for a range of noise sources to standards such as; BS:4142, IPPC, BS:8233, BREEAM, inaudibility, CRTN and other PAN56 specific guidelines. Projects include; Exxon Mobile Fife Ethylene Plant Mossmorran, IETF Test Facility RAF Lossiemouth, multi-use business park at Edinburgh Airport, Charles River Laboratories Tranent, commercial pub/nightclub noise assessments in urban areas and planning noise impact assessments multiple residential developments over Scotland for companies such as Barratt Homes Ltd, CALA Homes Ltd and McCarthy & Stone.
Scott published and presented a paper on “Environmental Noise Monitoring and Assessment of Petrochemical Plants” at the 2022 Internoise Conference. This included an examination of the Scottish regulatory guidance for the monitoring and assessment of environmental noise from petrochemical plants, as well as a review of the practical challenges of source measurement, and long-term monitoring and methods of data analysis.
Recently Scott has found a passion for falling off mountain bikes. While recovering from the inevitable injuries, Scott also enjoys science fiction, watching NFL football, and gaming.

Acoustic Modelling and Auralisation
Scott has extensive acoustic modelling experience with both Odeon room acoustics and Cadna A environmental noise prediction software. He has completed the Odeon masterclass and Cadna A expert courses. Examples of projects modelled include elevated and ground flares in petrochemical plants, train stations, reverberation time in school halls and lecture theatres, reverberation time in studios/audio rooms, road and rail traffic noise, aircraft noise and a large variety of industrial noise sources. Using Odeon, Scott is able to replicate the acoustics of rooms as auralisations let clients listen to noise or reverberation time mitigation options in order to make informed decisions.
Environmental Noise Impact Assessment and Industrial Noise Control
Scott has undertaken numerous noise impact assessments for a range of noise sources to standards such as; BS:4142, SEPA PPC, BS:8233, BREEAM, inaudibility, CRTN and other PAN56 specific guidelines. Projects include; Exxon Mobile Fife Ethylene Plant Mossmorran, INEOS Grangemouth, Shell NGL Mossmorran, IETF Test Facility RAF Lossiemouth and planning noise impact assessments multiple residential developments over Scotland for companies such as Barratt Homes Ltd, CALA Homes Ltd and Taylor Wimpey.
Design
Scott has been the lead design consultant in multiple design projects such as ASN and secondary schools, student accommodation and hotels. These include the award winning Beatlie ASN School and Monifieth Secondary School, Merkinch Primary School Inverness, Student Accommodation in Edinburgh and Premier Inn hotels in Edinburgh. Scott was the lead consultant for the Rockstar North offices in Edinburgh and Dundee, which included detailed design and modelling of multimedia and audio rooms.
Vibration
Scott has undertaken vibration measurements and assessments in line with BS 6472-1: Guide to evaluation of human exposure to vibration in buildings. Vibration sources other than blasting and BS 7385-2: Evaluation and measurement for vibration in buildings. Guide to damage levels from groundborne vibration as well as prediction and auralisation of reradiated noise in proposed developments.
